All Ears Amsterdam – Volunteering

We all have our personal struggles every now and then. We could choose to manage on our own, or we could reach out and talk to someone about our issues. We can approach friends or family members, but sometimes it is just nicer to talk anonymously to a stranger. At All Ears we provide this service, for free! Bonus: you don’t have to wait weeks before you can talk to someone! Everyone is welcome to make a call and we are ready to help; we are literally All Ears.

At All Ears we pick up the phone in order to talk about any issues the caller is dealing with. As a volunteer, you will work a minimum of two 2-hour shifts per week, working with your own device from a quiet environment (usually at home). You will gain experience in empathic listening and the usage of several conversation techniques. Eventually, you will be able to receive an official certificate from the UvA, rewarding you for your contributions to this project.

Who are we looking for?

Students who want to contribute to the well-being of their fellow students.

Students who want to gain experience in the field of empathic listening.

Students who have finished the course PT:PC (Year 2)

Students who are available for at least four hours per week

We welcome both Dutch and English-speaking students.
