Description
Dr. Marieke de Vries, assistant professor at Utrecht University will hold a lecture on the relationship between autism in children and culture. Her current research concerns how the different factors in autism such as executive functioning, its expression and aspects of culture such as music, language correlate. For example, she looks at differences in stigma, readiness to diagnose across cultures. Lastly, the parent’s role and behaviours in bringing up a child with autism will also be discussed.
